have they bricked my phone? major problems please help

was fiddling around today with my unlocked iphone and i really stupidly started to do an update.. but my itunes also needed updating so that had to happen first, and i cancelled it.. and now i can't send texts, or call people, and when i tried to call my phone from someone elses my iphone did nothing and it went straight to voicemail.. should i restore to factory settings? on my pc it says that if i do restore then the phone will be updated to the newest settings.. do i want to do this or will it lock again? im on o2 and very confused so any help would be great..

What iPhone do you have, what firmware is on it, and do you need it to be unlocked (noticed you said O2, which is an official carrier)?

Why are you using an unlocked phone on O2 when O2 is the official iPhone carrier?
