Well, I can imagine the responses will be either: "so what, it's fine, stop whining," or "that sounds terrible."

A new game by the studio that made LIMBO requires iOS 11 to play. (It's called INSIDE, if y'all liked LIMBO.)

Soooooo, I'll have to pull the trigger on updating if I want to play. Very sad :(

Anyone play INSIDE yet? Is it good?

I’ll chexk it out and get back to you. I see that the beginning is free to play.

Why don't you want to update (exactly)?

That's exactly how I updated my 6 from 8.4.1 to iOS 9. There was a game I wanted and it required iOS 9 and my iPhone 6 was never the same after that! Really regretted it! And the game wasn't worth it either! I'm keeping my 7 on 10.3.3 till I buy a new phone!

I played Inside on PS4 and it was great - definitely as good as Limbo. If you have a PS4 or XBOX ONE I'd recommend playing it on that instead of on an iPhone/iPad, because I assume playing it on a touch screen won't be quite as good due to the controls.

Additionally I did see some people complaining in the App Store that it says it's compatible with iPhone 6S and above, but when they launched it on an iPhone 6S the game complained that the phone wasn't new enough, so just be aware of that (potential bug?) if you're got an iPhone 6S.

I imagine at some point they'll release it on macOS as well, since it's now available on pretty much everything else.

One game is not worth a phone full of headaches. Reconsider your choice before pulling the trigger. It’s pretty much guaranteed your battery life will reduce and your fast home button will be gone.

The fear that I'll lose battery life, get resprings and closed apps, and other general failures of iOS 11 that people complain about.

I can overlook resprings (so long as they're not as bad as ios 8) and small general failures, but the battery life has me worried... there's also not enough features or security patches to convince me it's worth the gamble of updating to a an iOS version that may or not be perfectly fine and not experience what some problems people are reporting.

I want to feel like my new 7 worth spending money on :)

yeah, it's that battery life that has me worried.
I was reading a gizmodo article that outlined all the ways Apple ****ed up this year: it read like your posts. Haha:D
I thought it was satire.

THIS. So much this. Although one can hold out on updating iOS for the sake of iOS, it becomes nearly impossible to hold out because of the apps. This is another way in which Apple indirectly "forces" people to update iOS.

I upgraded my 12.9 Pro to iOS 11 because of the additional multitasking capabilities, and it tanked the battery life. Prior to iOS 11, I could use my 12.9 Pro all day at work and go from 100% down to 89%. Now with iOS 11 with no change to how I use it, it regularly goes down to 59%.

Inside is the most beautiful and immersive game I’ve played in a long time. I haven’t been glued to the screen this much since Splinter Cell.
