I've seen some people say that they take their iPad with them everywhere and I want to as well, as there have been many instances where I wish I had it on me, but I keep forgetting it at home. I'm just not used to grabbing it along with my keys, iPhone and wallet. Trying to make a habit out of it but it's not working.

I leave mine at home unless I'm traveling. I have an iPhone and I don't like to schlep things around unnecessarily. However, my mom told me she takes hers with her all the time -- never leaves the house w/ out it. She has a BB which she hates, so this is as much of an iPhone replacement as she can get for the time being.

I think it's a little easier for us ladies because we can throw them in the purse. Or, I do at least. :D

I am probably in the minority, but I carry the iPad around in a lap top bag. I am a pack rat, and carry around an entire mobile office in the bag. A couple work related books, blue tooth keyboard, stylus, iPhone charger, iPad charger, head phones, and random other stuff (a snack, gum, pens, etc).

It is my murse (man purse).

I tend to just take everything with me always, but leave the bag in the car if I am going to meet up with a friend or go to a coffee shop. So I get the portability of the iPad with the utility of a lap top if necessary.

I tried to, but carrying it around is very inconvenient. That's what my Droid (or you guys with iPhones :D ) is for - carry everywhere, like going to a restaurant. When I carry my laptop bag, I carry the iPad as well. I still haven't figured out the carry protocol for ME yet....

Oh yea, I definitely wouldn't carry it with me outside my car...I would feel weird taking it out at a restaurant for example, or while pumping gas. :p

But Id like to get into the habit of taking it and leaving it in the car in case I do need it as has happened a couple times where I needed to access my office computer and ended up using LogMeIn via my iPhone...would have been much better on the iPad.

I would too, but the heat has arrived in Tampa and leaving it in my car is a non-starter. The thing gets HOT HOT HOT.

I also worry about someone stealing it (which reminds me, the Find my iPad function in MobileMe works GREAT!)

This is a very interesting topic. I am curious to see how other people carry theirs around. This is almost like legally carrying around a concealed weapon. :D It can be very inconvenient at times, so I leave mine at homes more often than not, but boy if I ever needed it....

I've tried taking it with me, mainly because friends want to see it, but it's sometimes cumbersome. I took it out to dinner the other night because a friend is interested in buying one, but ended up trying to sit it on my lap during the meal. I finally ran it out to my car after the dinner.

I do bring it to work everyday so I can watch some TV on my lunch break. But at work I can just sit it on my desk and don't have to watch it like a hawk all day.

Too bad it doesn't fold up so you can throw it in your pocket. :p

Yea, once the heat really hits here in Phoenix leaving it in the car won't be an option. As for someone stealing it, I've put it in the glovebox or on the floor in the back seat where you can't see it just walking by.

I take it EVERYWHERE. I got the best purse the other day that it fits great in.l So everywhere I go my iPad goes. :)

I take mine with me about half the time. I carry it in a padfolio + the Eco-Vue case. I have left my iPad in the car since the padfolio just blends in with its environment.

I take it all over. There are a few situation I leave it at home for, but the whole reason to get the 3G was so I could use it anywhere so I make sure I can take advantage of that.

Heat is not an issue. Minnesota May might as well be most place's February. -_-

It doesn't take the place of an iPhone - I don't carry it around to restaurants or anything like that. But it does get out WAY more than my 15" MBP. The light weight + battery life lets it go many more places where I normally would have just tolerated using the iPhone.

I love this thing and take it with me absolutely everywhere -- I mean everywhere!!!!

I use the portable muzetto and also the vertigo -- both from waterfield designs -- along with one of their slip cases. The iPad is safe and secure that way until I am ready to use it.

And as much as I wish I waited for the 3G I can honestly say that wifi is just about everywhere I go.

I won't leave the house without my iPad!

I don't carry a purse but the ipad has made me consider a messenger type bag ... though I hate carrying crap.

This is an excellent question. When everyone was speaking about the 3G experience I was thinking along the same lines as your question.

R u really going to bring it along everywhere.

Will you pull it out in a crowded fast food place or bus or train all the time? in a restaurant? Do you want to leave it in your car when you go to places where you don't want to take it out.

Its portable but its very stealable also....you going to take it to the john with you every time your out.

I also have a Blackberry that I hate. I have my iPad in the Apple Case and take it everywhere. Using the web on my Blackberry is brutal. Fortunately the iPad has completely eliminated the need for it (aside from work stuff).

I take it to work with me 4 times per week. It's a WiFi edition so before I leave for work, I'll update/refresh the USA Today, Reuters and NPR apps and be on my way. I'm the first one in my office - so the first 2 hours I can have the music cranked a little bit until the others start rolling in. At lunch time I'll hit the break room and not have to worry about sharing the newspaper.

Outside of work - I've taken it to evening class several times and I've taken it to couple of my friend's houses so they can see it. I've also taken it with me to the local Chinese restaurant while waiting on my take out.

Once I pick up the camera kit, I'm sure it'll get even more road time.

I would love to but really need to get a good bag that is nice and slim and I can get used to carrying around.

If I'm going anywhere locally where I could potentially use it, even if I'm not sure I will use it, I tend to put it in the car trunk. Then I only get it out of the trunk if I actually am going to use it.

The size of the device is annoying in some ways, because it's hard to walk around with it without either screaming to the world "I have an iPad!" or "I have a funny little bag." I know a lot of iPad users are eager for others to see and ask about their iPads, but I'm not - I generally would rather be left alone. I take it with me to use, not to talk about.

When I travel out of town, I definitely always take it, since I have a bag anyway.

I'm with you on that one.

I actually had it with me at the car wash, using it while waiting for the car to be washed, and had a guy come up and start interviewing me about it...all sort of questions on this and that...so I like it, how much was it. Didn't really care for it...would rather people not ask.

Mine sits at home while I'm at work, unless I know I will need it for a class or a meeting after work. If I know I will need it, I toss it in my laptop bag and resist the temptation to take it out several times during the day. Otherwise, I have my "little iPad" (Ipod touch) with me 24 x 7 as a backup. MobileMe keeps some things sync'd between devices. Goodreader helps with the rest. I never sync but occasionally back up to my Mac using iTunes.
