This is disgraceful.
I can't believe no one else has commented on this.
I am always understanding of bugs in a software release that is much different than its predecessor. Lot's of changes means much more potential for an undetected error to reach the final, tested release.
I was defending Apple for what I thought was excessive criticism of 5.0.
I myself never had the battery issue, so the iOS5 I have now on my 4S, and the same on my previous 4, were running perfectly. I understand other users really do have a battery issue, but I didn't think Apple's error in this regard was an indication of carelessness on their part.
5.0.1, however, is a different story. Very very small number of changes to be made, and yet a TON of different problems being reported.
In this case I do think Apple was careless in its release.
In my job we experience issues with new software all the time, so personally I never upgrade unless I have a reason to. I didn't upgrade to 501, and I'm sure glad I didn't. Still that's no excuse for Apple's carelessness.
