G'day everyone.

I'm soon going to be getting a Merom MacBook Pro (once it comes out) and the resale value of my iMac is not much, and it still works great, so I'm going to keep it. Since the MacBook Pro will BLOW the iMac away in performance, I was wondering what I would use the iMac for? I know a lot of you guys have more then 1 mac, and I was wondering what you guys use them for?

Thanks.

Heh, Resale value.

Considering those iMacs still go for ~$400 on ebay, and a well equipped Dell from 2002 goes for ~$120, it appears your resale value is fine ;)

However, holding onto older systems is something I love to do, and understand why you would want to keep your imac!

My situation is a little different. I have a 2.0 GHz Core Duo iMac, and a 1.33 GHz PowerBook G4. Roughly the same performance disparity as the setup you're talking about. However, I still get a ton of use out of my PowerBook because it has one obvious advantage - portability. I personally find desktops much more comfortable to use, so I think even if I had a slower desktop than my laptop, I'd probably still use the desktop at home more, at least for web surfing, email, etc.

I use my mac mini for my experimenting computer as well as a backup for my files from my MBP
