Still waiting for the new iMac to come out, but the wait is growing tiresome. My 2010 iMac at home was feeling way out of date, and I no longer own the 2019 iMac in my sig (needs updated) because it was a work computer. Now the 2010 iMac has died on me, and I was pushed back to a 24" 2007 iMac, which also quickly died due to problems it had developed in the past. Currently using the 2008 iMac in my sig, and it is getting to be a pain. Very slow, little hard drive space, poor screen.

If the wait times on the current units weren't so crazy long, I'd probably have given in already, but I assume that by the time I get ahold of it the new one will be out. The classic Apple tug of war. I keep checking the store to see if the shipping times are changing, which they are not. It's gotten to the point where I'm looking at Windows alternatives too, in case something crops up that I like. Anyone else in a similar situation, whether it be with an iMac or another Apple product?

Check out the refurbs, a lot just went up but they go fast: https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/mac/imac

They usually arrive in 1-2 days. I got tired of waiting and went with an i9/8gb/512gb/580x config for $2300 and it arrives on Friday. Will update the RAM to 32 gb for another $140. If any of the new iMacs are announced within the next 14 days I will return it to the Apple Store nearby and if they aren't announced then I will be glad to have such a powerful machine without the wait. Win win for my needs.

Same!!! I just got the i9/16gb/1tbssd/580x refurb with military discount for $2,447.00. Hoping no physical redesign until ARM. Feels like a great deal and probably faster than what I could get for the same price on an updated Intel model.

That is an amazing deal. The same config with edu discount is $2909 new. You will probably be able to get back most of the money if you decide to sell it down the line to upgrade to the re-design. Used iMacs are still pretty overpriced.

So I received mine today and I am now debating if I should wait to open it until next week. I returned a refurb 16” MacBook Pro To get this one.

I bought a nearly new 21.5 inch a few days ago from a apple refurb seller in the UK.
i5 6 core, 32GB ram, 1tb SSD, 555x Radeon Pro - after discount worked out at a whopping 30% discount over new price!
All I need because aside from some light photoshop work, you tube, web browsing and an occasional foray into a few old legacy windows games it will have an easy life.
My point is you could wait forever for the next upgrade, I‘d rather have the flexibility of an intel chip right now and know boot camp, virtualisation etc works straight away. After all TC did state support for Intel will be carried on for ‘years’ to come so I doubt any money dropped on the counter for any intel Mac right now will be a waste.
Hope that helps and good luck choosing 👍
