I ran into a problem with my new Mac Mini Server.

Installed Mountain Lion 10.8 and then the Server.app from the AppStore. While configuring with the Server.app I removed the admin privilegs from the one and only main user (Mediacenter) of the Mac Mini. There are two other users (Malte and Alessandro) entered via the Server.app with privileges to set up the Mac Mini. For a overview of the users see picture 1.

The problems are now:

If I want to log in from a client (or local from the Server directly) via the Server.app with the user Mediacenter I get the error on picture 2.

If I want to log in from a client (or local from the Server directly) via the Server.app with the user Alessandro or Malte I get the error on picture 3.

I can do a screensharing session but only with the User Mediacenter so i could access terminal.

Tried already to activate the root user - in Single User Mode and via Terminal. No success.

Does anyone have another idea how to get back the admin privilege for the Mediacenter user?

Best regards

Try these, log in as the user with admin privileges and go to the user control panel, you should be able to assign privileges to any user from their. If this does not work for some reason start the computer from a ML boot disk, from the install screen go to the utilities menu and pick the change password utility. You should then be able to change user characteristics. Or you could delete the mediacenter user and then re-create it.

Good luck.

I can't login into the mac with an admin account; I get error "Server requires OSX 10.8" even if there is 10.8.2 installed on both machines (client & server).

The utilities password resetting thing will I try on monday when I'm back @home. Thx so far...

Will give Feedback.

Perfect. With the utility (type "passwordreset" in terminal") i was able to restore my user rights.

Thanks!
