Not sure if this is the right forum but I'll start here.

Had an old Mac where I used to back up my phone, wives, kids. Kept all our old pics on there then on external hard drive.

Had some issues with that Mac and didn't use for a long long time. mostly used my windows laptop for work etc.

fast forward, bought a new Mac book air with Catalina.

My pictures from the old Mac that I transferred were either in iPhoto or just in folders on the hard drive. had a heck of a time transferring to new Mac and getting in the photo app.

I set up to back up the new pictures on the new Mac air in Photo to iCloud. Problem is that a ton of pictures are not making it to iCloud. I upgraded so have plenty of storage. When I go to iCloud.com and look on my phone it says I have storage. When I go to finder it and click on iCloud, it says storage is full.

Not sure what's going on. Lots of issues I'm having.

Some thoughts to help understand the picture:

- If it's a ton of photos, it can take several hours (even overnight) for them to upload to iCloud. Are you sure all the uploading is complete?

- Do you have an estimate of how many GBs your photos are?

- How much iCloud storage did you upgrade to?

- How much available storage is on your iPhone? Which iPhone is it?

- About the finder/iCloud/storage is full, I'm assuming you mean on your new MacBook Air. Could you show a screenshot of that?

I may have to come back to this. Think I accidentally deleted all my pics off the new Mac. I will have to move them from the iPhoto app on the external hard drive to the new Mac. what a pain. is there an easy way to do that? iPhoto to photo? had a lot of dupes when I did it last time.
