I'm trying to make my new house entirely wireless, but I'm having issues with the wireless signal from AirPort Express reaching my room.

The AE is located in the den (middle of the house) and my room is in the far right corner of the house. There is a kitchen in between the den and my room, and a friend of mine told me that kitchen are pretty much a kill zone/dead zone for wireless signal. I also have a PowerBook G4 which doesn't have the best range for picking up wireless (compared to the MacBook at least).

How can I get the wireless signal to reach my room? Is there a way I can amplify the signal so it can get past my kitchen? The only way I've thought about is getting an additional AE, and having it bounce the signal into my room, but thats expensive and I wanted to see if there was a better solution.

I appreciate the help.

I understand that you want to mount the Airport Express in the center of the house, but maybe that is not the best solution. Why not try various rooms in the house and see what gives the best result. Even though the placement of the AE may not be central, perhaps moving it to another location will provide better overall result and get signal to the far corner room. Try placemment where the signal doesn't have to penetrate through the kitchen area. How about the attic?

Ooops. You did say Airport Express.

I tested it in various areas as well as various settings but i can't quite seem to get it as far as I need to (my desk is at the far end of the room) so I've decided to get a second AirPort Express as that seems to be my only option.

I really appreciate the help. Thank you.
