As the title states...

I have a MacBook Air and I keep *NO* music on the laptop, opting instead to let it stay in the cloud (Match). When I buy an album though it ALWAYS downloads it....can I stop this?

Its not a huge deal to then delete the files (which then leaves the placeholders) but it'd be nice not to have to do this every time.

Thanks

I'm not sure that's even possible. I think it has to be on one of your devices first before being uploaded to the Cloud.

Is this download at the time of the initial music purchase on the system you're purchasing the music from?

If that's the case, you won't be able to stop the download. Also, I'm not sure how iTunes Match picks up on purchased music. If it gets out directly from the iTunes store or if it needs it to be on your computer to get it into iTunes Match.

Not for purchases, as they don't have to be matched, iTunes knows you have bought them.

As for the OP, everytime you play a track it downloads the file to play it, and stores it on your disk, which you presumably clean out preiodically. I'd just clear the purchases out whenever you clean out the streamed/downloaded tracks.

Seems like no way to stop it. No biggy. I just don't store any music on the MBA so I have to go and delete it so that its not on here but in the cloud.
