I currently use the Mac mail program on my MBP, which checks my main SBC/ATT e-mail address and also my gmail account. When I synced my iPhone it automatically grabbed all the server settings and any new mail on the server. No problem. The phone has no issues checking my mail. However, now I've been noticing that my Mac mail program on my laptop seems to magically be forgetting my password somewhat regularly and asking me to re-enter the password and save it in my keychain. I re-enter it and everything is fine until it asks me again. I know this is somehow tied to the phone, but I'm not sure what's going on. Has anybody else experienced this and/or know how to fix it? I have the phone set to check for mail every 15 min. and my Mac mail program to check every minute.

Hi
I am seeing the same thing.
it is not an issue with the password, you get this message when the desktop attempts to connect with your mail server while the iPhone is already connected.
you don't need to enter your password again, if you just hit cancel and the take the mail box online again all will be well.
only way around it iknow is to set the systems to be out of sync, but it will always happen as far as I can tell, potentially anyway, when you have morethan one device accessing the same pop3 mailbox.

If they is a way to avoid this and have mac mail just retry when it can't connecct it would be great.

Thinkthis is the longest message i have typed on th phone so far, hows the spelling.

Read above, nothing to fix. What he said is right.

Actually, I believe there *IS* something to fix. I think the phone is not shutting down the POP communication port properly, and is leaving the mailbox in a locked state for much longer than is necessary. On my server, whenever the phone checks for mail (every 15 min), then there is a period of a couple of minutes (I have not really timed it) where I cannot access the mailbox from by desktop due to the mailbox lock. Eventually it times out and I can access it.

Some people in another thread have posted that turning the phone off will release the lock. I have not tried this yet.
