Hi there

Just installed ProSwitcher yesterday and so far i think it's very nice.

I was wondering though, will it use too much battery to have multiple apps running pretty much constantly - if you use ProSwitcher to do this?

The RAM (atleast i think it's RAM) measurer that you can put on the Status Bar using SBSettings is normally at around 150MB when i only have Phone and Mail on (having turned iPod off).

If i background apps - even just one or two - with Backgrounder, the RAM drops a lot and stays down there untill i un-background.

When i use ProSwitcher, however, it almost doesn't affect this RAM value at all. Given that the programs load much quicker i guess they are backgrounded, right? How come this major difference i RAM then?

Anyway is it so, that the more RAM being used, the more battery is being used - and therefore do ProSwitcher not cause the major battery leakage, having it on constantly, that Backgrounder does?

Thanks in advance!

If you install the iStat app you will see that the "available ram" is actually divided further into Inactive and Free.

I think Inactive means pre-loaded apps. So it might very well be that SBsettings is reporting the Inactive+Free combined number, your proswitch'd apps being in the Inactive area. That's the best explanation I can come up with :)

About the battery usage I'm not too sure about but common IT/techie sense tells me the amount of RAM used should have zero effect on the battery drain.

Alright.. Anyone else agrees with globalist on the RAM battery usage thing?

And does anyone have any experience with having multiple apps backgrounded with ProSwitcher and therefore an idea of how much extra battery drain it causes?

I'm curious what it is you guys background. I background pandora or my GPS in case I get a call when using it etc, but on a regular basis, I am only in need of running one thing. Tell me what you all usually background.

I actually used Proswitcher only once or twice since I bought it, really the most needed stuff on the IP is already backgrounded by default (mail, phone, safari).

But now that you mention it, backgrounding Navigon is a great idea!

i am the same as i only background navigon and my music app which is slacker. these go great together.. with music controls i have 0 complaints. i will background some apps time to time like daily finance, logmein, mint, or even nova so i can quickly go back without reloading everything again.

I guess that makes sense with an app like logmein that takes a minute to load up. I rarely use that..I hate giving my admin password out so freely. I have a lot of private data under that profile. Backgrounding my Pandora and TomTom are my main reasons to use.
