Is there a way to get the on-screen keyboard to open when you tap a text box?

Reason for the question is I will be using the Mac Mini on stage and I'll be using a touchscreen...now, hopefully the screen won't "go to sleep" but, if it does, without a keyboard I'll not be able to unlock it, hence being able to access the on screen keyboard in these situations.

The Mac Mini's sleep timer should be configurable. Try turning it off completely. Or set it for a time period longer than the interval you plan to be on stage.

The two relevant settings are: "Turn display off after" and "Prevent your Mac from sleeping automatically when the display is off".

After changing the settings, do a test. Leave the touchscreen and any attached input devices undisturbed for at least as long as you set the "display off" timer to.

In general, I recommend testing whatever you plan to do on stage, well before actually going on stage. I also suggest having a failsafe easily available, such as a USB keyboard, perhaps placed on a small table in the wings off-stage.

You might get more suggestions if you tell us exactly what model of Mac Mini you're planning to use, and which model of touchscreen. It might also help if you identify the app whose text box you intend to tap. It seems like you've left out a number of details, any (or all) of which could be important.

Thanks. I thought that might be the case (very similar to W), but wanted to make sure. I only posted in general terms without specifics as I was really only seeking a general answer.

I will go there and adust those settings and see what happens, if not successful I will return haha!
