Anyone else experiencing this?

It seems that every time I go to my ATV I have to reselect the appropriate iTunes Library from the 'Sources' menu.

I wonder if it has anything to do with me changing my iTunes library? I'm in the process of adding things every day, would that affect it?

Cheers.

Are you switching off your ATV completely between uses? In my (limited) experience it appears to reset the source in this case, whilst the source is retained if the unit is just put to sleep.

Didn't realise you could turn it off!

But no, I just leave it on.

I find it odd that it doesn't have a power button...

If you quit iTunes on the source computer for streaming (or if you quit and re-start the computer, of course) the :apple:TV will disconnect from it as the streaming source and you will have to re-select the next time you go to use the :apple:TV. If, however, you keep that computer on with iTunes running on it continuously, it should stay connected as the streaming source. That's the way it works for me anyway. I think that a couple times my :apple:TV may have lost the connection for no apparent reason, but I may have re-launched iTunes without remembering.

Come to think of it, the same thing would happen if your network had problems, or if you re-started it or something. I guess the best way to say it is: the :apple:TV has to have continuous contact with the streaming source or it will disconnect (and revert to the :apple:TV's HD as the source) and it won't re-connect to the streaming source by itself once it's available again.

Incidentally, the only way to turn the :apple:TV off is to unplug it. You can put it to sleep by pressing and holding the play/pause button on the remote, but even when asleep it will still sync with the source computer, etc. I think it just puts the display portion to sleep.

Cheers for that.

That makes sense, I think I may have restarted iTunes for one reason for another. I always keep the computer on though.

p.s. how do you insert the Apple logo?
