Having trouble finding equivalent Mac software

Hello! I'm new to the forum so if I've placed this in the wrong category, please let me know and I'll see if the moderator can move it.

I used Frontpage as an HTML editor when I was on a PC. Now that I'm on a Mac, I'm having a challenge trying to find a WYSIWYG web design software.

What is "The" HTML editor of choice for Mac users?

For the record, I tackled DreamWeaver when I was on a PC. I'm fairly savvy on software but I found that DW appeared to be difficult just for difficulty's sake. I'll tackle it again if it's the only thing available. But, I don't relish the thought.

You used FrontPage? OMG!!! Stay Away hehe... Anyway..

I'm a pretty recent mac switcher too, and I did lots of research beforehand regarding similar software apps for my most common tasks..

For web development, I've decided on RapidWeaver, although you could use Apple's own iWeb.
RapidWeaver is very easy to use, and there are lots of different themes out there. You can always give it a try befoer purchasing anyway. I highly recommend it

Or, you could just go freehand and use TextEdit - which is what I started off doing, but I am a web developer anyway, and I'd rather not spend my free time at home working on my own site(s), when you can use compliant, easy WSYSIWYG software

I use dreamweaver and love it. It is more difficult than some, but it is the easiest to use if you do not want to be restricted into using pre made themes etc.

You can make any website imaginable using dreamweaver (and other programs for other content like fireworks for images and flash for... FLASH!)

I suggest you get the Macromedia Studio 8 which includes all of these programs, its expensive but there are ways to get it cheaper

I personally prefer Dreamweaver. I preferred it on the PC before I switched, and I prefer it on the Mac now. Anyway, the big (former) competitor to Dreamweaver is Adobe GoLive. Now that Adobe owns Macromedia, I think there's a good chance that GoLive will be discontinued, but for the time being it is still available. There's Nvu which is a free, open-source WYSIWYG webpage editor. I've never used it seriously, but I've played around with it, and it seems promising.

Finally, if you're looking for something a little simpler than a full blown pro app like Dreamweaver, Rapidweaver and Sandvox are both really good. I personally find iWeb a little too limiting/restrictive even for people looking for something simple.

Yeah, I definitely can't rely on iWeb which -- so far -- looks like it's more designed for consumer sites (blogs, photo galleries, baby announcements, etc.)
