Having trouble getting forced subtitles to work with handbrake

I was ripping the Pianist and i selected english and forced only, yet for some reason I get no subtitles when i watch it back. any ideas?

what do you mean? The subtitles don't matter to me because i understand german, but other people will need the subtitles.

Ok, I misunderstood what you needed. I said to try with no subtitles because I had an obscure Japanese film that gave me a lot of problems trying to figure out the subtitles. I tried with English subs, with forced subs, and finally with no subtitles before I got it to work. Don't ask me why, but it did.
