Having trouble installing second optical drive on Mac Pro 1,1

Posted this in a couple places. Hoping someone can help

So I got this internal blu-Ray player today

Everything installed fine, save for cracking the tab that lacks the video card in place (thankfully it should still work from what I am seeing).

Anyhow, when I go to put the drive back in, the bay won't go all the way in, like it is catching on something. The cables don't seem to be in the way, so Indon't know what I am doing wrong. What should have taken an hour has now become an all-day job as nothing seems to be working as the drive bay is not flush. Pictures attached. Anyone able to help? This is my main computer, so having it up and running adapt is imperative. Ugh.

If I remember right, when I installed a second optical drive in the same kind of computer, I had to remove the face plate from the drive and also the matching cover plate from the tray.

Yep, already took he face plate off. That's not the issue here I don't think

Try putting the case latch in the open position. I seem to recall this resolved the issue for me, as the case latch mechanism helps keep the optical drive bay in place.

Turns out that was the problem! All seems to be well now! Thanks.

Well, I'm glad you solved the main issue . Are you missing the PCI retention bracket ? It's not safe to operate your Mac if the peripheral cards are not secured properly . Shoot me three bucks for postage and I'll send you one for free . I have a few spares in my parts bins . It looks like this :

I have that part. Thanks though. What broke was the tab at the end of the part where the video card plugs in that locks it. None of the components of the video card broke, nor is the part where you plug it in broken. It seems to be in there pretty securely between plugging it in and securing it with the part you showed in the picture

Oh, I understand . The card locking mechanism of the PCIe interface slot is broken . That should not be too serious a problem , although heavy and large cards might come loose easier if your Mac is shipped .

It is a larger card as it is that ATI Radeon Apple branded card that works in there, but the computer isn't about to be shipped anytime soon and it seemed to be in there pretty tightly, especially after tightening that PCI retention bracket. Still frustrated it happened and totally forgot that locking tab was on there as it had been years since I installed that card.
