Having trouble with airdrop

Ok I have 10+ gb free space on my iPhone X and I’m trying to airdrop a video file that is 4.09gb but I get this error. I’ve restarted both phone and MacBook and nothing.

I've never gotten airdrop to work. Ever.
Use Transmit app or FileBrowser app to transfer files to & from your Mac

It’s always been great up until this file.

That's an absolutely massive file to be AirDropping. Might be too large to transfer wirelessly? That's the only reason I can think of.
