I'm considering buying an Apple TV 3 (hoping for a possible new jailbreak soon) and I'm wondering if I'll be able to play my HBOGO from my iPhone or MBP using the mirroring airplay thing? Also, do you need an airport or does it work with any old wireless router?

Thanks!

Airplay mirroring for HBO works from newer Macbook pros, like ivy bridge models and newer. It does not work from iOS devices.

The mirroring is pretty good. I've been using it pretty extensively with my Apple TV 3 over wifi (of course).

I wish i could use the computer while mirroring, but I haven't found a way.

I think I got my MBP in like, 2009? I heard that airplay works with Mountain Lion though.. so if I get mountain Lion on my MBP, will the airplay work?

Honestly there's really no point in me buying an Apple TV if I can't mirror from my computer. I might as well just buy the HDMI converter thing.

For older Macs, u run a thing called Parrot instead. Google.

No doesn't have to be Airport, any 802.11 G and up will do.

Yeah, this whole HBO situation is a real pain in the ass.

I tried AirParrot on my older MBP, and it was completely unwatchable.
