HD 3000 vs X1600

Hello, we all more or less know the new Air will mount an Intel GPU, I currently own a C2D MBP with AMD X1600 GPU, will the Air be an upgrade or a downgrade in light 3D gaming over my current MBP?

Right now you can only get information based on guesses of what the next Air will include. Remember that when you take this information and are ready to order a new Air.

The X1600 is about as powerful as a 9400M which the HD 3000 that's getting put in the MacBook Air outperforms.

No guessing involved.

However, the CPU in the current MBA is about the same as your MBP (I have the same one, I looked into this). Basically, the current gen MBA is as powerful as your current MBP. The delta between the current MBA and the next refresh is (about) the same delta as your MBP as the next gen MBA.

It's pretty sad when you think about how powerful the air isn't, and, OR, how well your MBP has served you.

CPU wise the current one is about as powerful as his MBP, but the 320M is far superior to the X1600.

It's natural since every current CPU it's almost too powerful for our own good (other than very specific cpu-intensive tasks of course) the improvement will go toward a lower power consumption.
Btw, the HD 3000 scores almost double the points in 3D Mark 05 than the X1600.
