HD 7950 Qs about power draw

I am still a Mac Pro newbie, although, I know a lot, I really don't know a lot. That being said, I have a few Qs.

I am using an old (as in, out of my no longer used PC) Sapphire radeon HD 7950 (2x6 pin) without a flash. I have ordered an Nvidia GT 120 so that I can use the boot screen. This setup will be until budget allows a GTX 980 or 970.

In my PCIe slots I have the 7950, and Plextor M6e 256 SSD.

After a bit of research, I am concerned about power draw when using this setup.

Any pointers or suggestions are appreciated.

The power draw is no problem for your MacPro.

Flashing the HD 7950 is as easy as pie btw, no need for the GT 120.

As long as it's a 2x6pin card, there will be no power issue.

Thanks, I did not want to draw too much power and fry the logic board. I never OC a GPU and only use for basic video editing with some 3d effects, so being able to have boot screen for switching drives is added bonus.

I will look into flashing the 7950 or having MVC do it (I ordered the GT 120 from him).

Everything you have are well within spec in regards to power draw. You have nothing to worry about.
