I'm looking to get an external HD - 160-250GB.
Firewire is NOT necessary, but it IS important that the drive can be powered by ONE USB port (the same as it transfers data through.
No AC adaptor, no transfering via firewire and charging via USB, and no dobble USB stick that will take up both my USB hubs.
So far the LAcie porche mobile drive and the WDpassports looks like a good choice. But the box says that SOME laptops will have to use a dobble USB cable cause there won't be enough power in the USB hubs.
Can anyone confirm that there is enough power in the hubs of an 15" MBP (C2D) to power the drive?
Thanks
