HD Cable on a Intel iMac

I have an Intel iMac that I would like to watch HD and SD TV on. I have a Dish TV satellite cable coming into the room that is the #2 Output from a receiver in another room. Dish lets you control that output with a remote that is RF to the receiver.

So I have a cable and the ability to change channels from the hand held remote. How can I get the cable into the iMac? THe cable is the standard 59U (?)

Sorry if this is a newbie question. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need a device to convert your cable signal to USB or Firewire, then you need software to display to content on the Mac.

The Elgato page indicated that their stick doesn't work with Direct TV.
Any ideas?

It can't tune satellite signals. You will have to use the video-in function on the EyeTV. No tuner (on Mac) is capable of tuning DirecTV.

So it sounds like what I need is a device to convert the cable signal to a firewire or USB connector and a way to control the display properties on the Mac. Then perhaps a way to record the input on the hard drive.

BTW I have Dish TV rather han Direct
