I got this message as I was about to upgrade to beta 4. I haven't created any files on the root volume (screenshot of the folders that are currently there is attached), so I'm not sure what's prompting it. If anyone else has had this message, how did you resolve?

I got the same message and had the same folders. After installing today's update I no longer have the Time Machine Local Snapshot folder, and my net and private folders no longer show in Finder but they do in Terminal, which I'm fine with.

Backing up as a precaution as we all should prior to installing a beta... However, you are saying this won’t wipe out everything I currently have?

My upgrade went fine. Having an issue with a memory hog, per Activity Monitor, but from what I've read about the culprit (fileproviderd), it's an iCloud Drive issue.

Yup, been there since day one. Was hoping that they would have crushed that one... I just go into Activity Monitor and kill the process - otherwise the beast starts looking and sounding like Chernobyl t-minus one...

Weird; it's the first time I've experienced it on this ride.

You are lucky! It’s the iCloud access process and resultantly getting schtuff down is a pain in the proverbial... for now. I’m sure someone more technically minded will be able to explain it.
