One of my storage drives stopped appearing on my desktop. I went to disk utility and ran disk verification and repair but still no success. The HD does appear in the disk utility window but not on my desktop.
Thanks!

Dumb question but do you have it set to show up on the desktop in the Finder Preferences

You might toggle that Finder setting maflynn mentioned off and on, and restart the Finder (Cmd-Opt-Esc to bring up window). Sometimes prefs get oddly corrupted, and it takes a rewrite to fix things.

Try this (no promises).

Shut the Mac and all drives down, completely. That means powered off.

Now connect the "problem drive" (with power still off).

Power on the problem drive if it has a separate power supply. (If drive is bus-powered, disregard this step)

Now, restart the Mac.

When it reaches the point where the finder loads and displays the desktop, it -may- try to repair the problem drive and then mount it.

Again, no promises that this will work.
Be sure to follow the exact order of events above.
