Would be nice, thats for sure. But the Air's top lid thickness is very thin. Depending on the size of the high resolution camera, it may not even fit!

Apple does like consistency but that's a valid point. Anyone know if there is an HD webcam sensor that thin?

well it's not like the MBP's screen is a monster, it's really thin too.
And I have noticed that HD camera isn't at all hard to squeeze into anything, unlike high-megapixel cameras which become thicker and thicker.
I don't think you have to worry, the new MBA will have one, I'm sure.

wouldn't an hd camera have higher megapixels...but I do agree that they will have hd facetime, must be feasible to make an hd camera that thin with todays tech

Suggest research on a good camera web site, like this one:

Tiny sensors, like those found in iPhones and Macbooks, have tiny pixels - which leads to more noise and reduced dynamic range.

Chunky DSLRs have huge sensors by comparison, which is why they take such stunning images.
