HD gets a little choppy, help?

Those with MBPs or MBs, kindly do me a favour.

Download both the 720p and the 1080p movies.

While playing, turn on the "Movie Info" pane in "Window".

Is it me or does the 1080p trailer get a bit choppy in certain spots? Mine falls to around 7fps at some parts, I'm playing it in "Half Size" just in case you're wondering, playing it in "Actual Size" makes no difference.

To be more specific, the fps falls at 48 seconds when the camera goes up and down when they are driving and at 59 seconds when the guys are coming out of the bus.

Runs perfectly okay on the 720p version.

MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Core Duo
1.5GB RAM
80GB 5400RPM HDD
X1600 128MB

I have an iMac as you can see from my sig. Even the 1080p jerks on mine as its not designed for viewing 1080p on something that doesn't support the resolution. If like me you have a resolution of 1680 x 1080 you may notice this isn't full HD so you will only be able to view 720p films properly without any problems. Although I may be wrong...?

I don't think its a problem with the resolution of the screen IMHO.

I've tried other 1080p trailers like the F4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer and TMNT and they run like butter. These trailers seem to be much more intense than the WTC one in my opinion. I'm guessing its an encoding/software problem than anything else. Afterall, both you and I meet the requirements for playing 1080p on Apple's website.

I agree. It could well be an encoding issue if you have no problems in viewing certain trailers. I too have tried some and they display fine but others struggle. Maybe it could be a quicktime error? You could always just view them in 720p like I do so I know I wont get any problems. Although we have a resolution of 1680 x 1080 "true" HD is actually 1920x1080 pixels.

Also what size id your MBP as I'm thinking of getting a 17" soon.

Mines a 15" CD. I've got friends with a 17" and a 15" C2D MBP @ 2.33GHz and the trailer runs fine on theirs. I'm guessing its either the C2D or the extra 0.33GHz thats helping them along.

I very much doubt that the extra .33hmz would make that much of a difference in playback? I can run them fine on a 2.0Ghz CD. Although the new C2D's are 15% faster than us so that may help.
