I have the iMac core duo as you can see in my name. It has been making some noises- the clicking noise you hear from an HD. It is gttinng very loud and annoying.

Anyone else have this?

Should i try magicnoisekiller like the MBP?

When does it happen? under stress of loading apps or all the time? You might have a bad HD and need to have it replaced. Give livechat on apple.com/support a try as they will fix the issue or replace your HD.

edit: Surely not replace your HD via livechat ;) but will get the request put in.

magicnoisekiller has nothing to do with intel imacs or hard drive noise, it was meant to eliminate cpu whine from the MBP.

imacintel, is this happening under strain or are you using the hard drive normally? Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. It's one of those problems that might get worse if you try to fix it, especially if you the MacBook Pro remedies. :)

I am gonna try that. It is under all ranges of workloads, from runnning safari, to using limewire(legally). If they say that i really need a new HD, welcome to my world, MacBook. It makes the hd clicking noise as loud as an old Winblows 95 166 MHZ Pentium MMX machine. Trust me, I have one.

Mine started clicking too, so I ran the disk utility, no problems found, ran the hardware test, no problems found, used Seagate's online testing facility under XP, problem found, then went back to OS X, hard drive failed S.M.A.R.T verification. Phoned Apple support, told me if it passes the hardware test it's fine, even though it's showing as failed in the disk utility. It passed the hardware test but was still saying failed in the disk utility. Thought a full reinstall of OS X might help, tried it and now it says it's fine, no S.M.A.R.T problems:rolleyes:
