I know this is probably all over the forum but I'm a noob with regards to Mac (been PC) and trying to figure something out. I just had a new HD installed in the imac. Original died.

I had a backup of the HD on Time Machine. Actually, I have several backups on there.

I wanted to restore the latest backup but unsure how to do it. Apple store provided the imac with the new HD, and I did not do Setup Assistant on first boot up. Now when I go to Migration Assistant, I'm confused on whether to replace, create new account and replace, etc.

Is there a simple step by step to restore the complete backup and have it set back to the original user account?

Reading this sounds confusing already - hope someone knows exactly what I'm trying to do. :)

Thanks in advance.

There should be an option when you reboot your iMac to restore from a Time MAchine back up. Otherwise if not grab your install discs and insert the install DVD that says 'Install DVD/Disk" and when you select your language next screen should prompt for a destination volume, just go to the top menu bar and select Utilities > then Restore from Time Machine and you can select the latest one and go from there. (you should be able to do this last step if Apple installed Snow Leopard on your Machine as well).
