HD stream worse on 1.6 than 1.8 Rev B

I just went to a Apple store and tried a HD episode of CSI Miami on both a 1.6 HDD and 1.8 SSD.
After a while I realized the graphics was more blocky on 1.6 than the 1.8. No matter what I checked and stopped I could not change it. No other program was running, I let ot rest etc but still it had more choippy graphics.

And yes, I made sure it was rev B not rev A...
Btw, they both had 'the lines'.
If graphics is determined by the graphic card and they both have the same how come the video was not the same quality? Is it really the .26 GHz that made the difference???

I was almost ready to go for a 1.6 HDD but now I have to reconsider.

I bought a 1.6/120 also, was considering the Rev A for 999, but ultimately it came down to snow leopard. Snow leopard is going to fly on the rev b because of the graphics chip, or fly more than regular leopard.

I am going to try that CSI clip right now. The graphics should not be any different, but the .26 ghz may make a difference a little in terms of smooth playback, however I highly doubt that.

The 128g ssd is very nice, but for what I do it isn't really needed.

I'll report back how it runs on my connection. I tried Hulu HD clips and it ran fine.

Is this on the CBS website?

Yes, select HD Video and then in the drop down menu pick CSI Miami.

To be honest, I can't really tell the difference. The only thing that happens with my computer is that it stalls every 30 seconds, like it's buffering. I can understand that because right now my connection to california according to Speedtest is 2mbit. Which is pretty bad for HD Streaming.

The computer does get hot thought.

i don't see the pixelation, but it could pixel at certain spots because it's adjusting it's quality based on the connection? For instance, ABD HD will go down in HD quality if the speed of your connection can't keep up.

I don't know about this one because it seems to be a constant HD feed. The computer definitely gets hot but seems like it can handle it if it just downloaded fast enough. I wish they would allow you to buffer ahead, so I could test if it is indeed a connection issue.

How hot does it get btw? Too hot to have in your lap, basically is it only hot inside or is the enclosure hot as well?

Enclosure definitely gets hot. Just like the previous one from what I can remember, however it's never been a problem for my legs.

I can't notice the blockiness to be honest because I have nothing else to compare it to. However, I've watched a CSI Miami HD show on my lap. The HD is really really good on this 13 inch screen. I am surprised how far they got with the HD streaming quality.

Just make sure you have 3mbit at least for broadband speeds.

I did notice at sometimes it got a little blocky but I just think it's the camera.

For video output, I can't see how one would be different. They both use the 9400M. For instance anything played in VLC is using the GPU and I did notice blockiness, just because it's 480p.

Yep.

It was one of the qualifiers before I bought it.

I know for a fact netbooks can't do that yet.

Trying video streaming in a store means nothing. The bandwidth of that very "uncontrolled" environment could have changed drastically between the first and second tests. Also, the service streaming varies, sometimes I get a couple of drop outs on Netflix, but 90% of the time - it's great! Same internet connection.

And, I have a 1.6 Rev B with no lines- they do exist!
