iPod HD TV shows

Hi there
With the recent release of UK itunes HD tv shows, i was wondering:
Would there be a huge difference if i was to buy a HD show over a standard def. version and play it on my 13.3 alu macbook?
or, does the High definition only really show on ext. monitors like tvs etc.

The HD shows look much better on my iMac than the SD ones did, which were decent enough to begin with.
