HD Upgrade/Migrate/Clone/USB Boot Help

I have read a zillion "how to's" but seem to be missing something essential!
I could use help from anyone out there that can assist!
IMac4,1 - HD upgrade prep foro orig to 2TB, bought WD essential 2TB external HD, partitioned, GUID, cloned existing HD to it, can't see it on restart holding down OPTION, Now what?

What did u use to clone it? Superduper, carbon copy cloner or disk utility? I prefer superduper.

I used disk utility - but was going to try one of the 2 you suggested next..
