Has anyone tried to upgrade to the Samsung HS160JB drive? A specification review seems to indicate that it would be a drop in upgrade... after you open up the MBA. 160GB drive! It appears to be available.

Please let us know if you have done this.

I would love to do this upgrade too, but I think that it wouldnt fit the height requirement, The air's hard drive is 5mm and the samsung 160Gb drive is 8mm, then again this is just what I've culled off the forums, i could be completely off target...i've got my fingers crossed that you can do it because i would love to upgrade this bad boy

Yes I see the specs. But looking at the MBA dissassembly photos, it appears that the current 80GB drive has padding around it. 3mm is a lot if it is not there to be used.

If anyone has a MBA open and is interested, you could tell us if there is any opportunity. One way to tell would be to take two sheets of plastic film (food wrap) and several small balls of modeling clay sandwiched between the film placed on top of the hard drive and temporarily reinstall the cover. This would flatten the clay which could be measured upon removal of the cover.

Just a thought.
