I just noticed sth strange. I have a mbp late 2011, 8gb ram, 512ati6750.

I just installed diablo 3 and tried to play. It runs smooth but every time i open a new area while running or enemies appear, i get a small stutter. I have tried everything like low fx, lower resolutions and everything turned to the lowest setting but the stutter remains.

Then, i used the gfxstatus, forced intergraded (hd3000), texture set to High, resolution (1440X900) and everything else to lowest setting. This time no stutter at all and smoother...

Any suggestion? I tried cinebench and measured ati to 39fps.

If they're both running at the same detail settings and resolution, it sounds like there's something seriously wrong with your 6750 GPU.

I have a base model Macbook Pro 13 inch 2011 and run everything on low at a fixed 30fps...my fans don't even turn on:)

Yeah, bigtime. I went from playing Diablo 3 on a 2009 iMac with an AMD 4670 to my Macbook Air with Intel HD4000 and it was a considerable step down.

In OSX I play everything on HIGH on a 6750m 1GB and get 32FPS, there is a small stutter when you enter a brand new game as everything loads in, thats about the only performance drop I see.

The same stutter happens in Windows7 too, I have the exact same settings all on HIGH and get 55-60fps.

is that supposed to be surprise? I don't know. diablo 3 system requirement is very low. even you can play it with HD 3000. it will be better with HD 4000. if you have 5 years old PC, you can even set up very high. the game is not really demanded power.

Settings

The Settings change if you change your GPU from Intel to dGPU.
like lower graphical settings, or the ones you chose.

Just change the max foreground fps to 30, everything else to low or off. Looks fine to me, I sit far back anyways.
For what it's worth, you should have this set slightly above 30fps, say 33fps, and then enable V-Sync.

V-Sync should cap it to a multiple of your refresh rate (which is 60Hz) which will be close to 30fps, but not exactly 30fps. Due to variability in framerate/refresh rates, if you limit the game to 30fps on a 60Hz display, it may miss sync every so often causing the game to stutter.

I'll try that out. I do see the screen gimmi a bit of a lag issue for a second here and there, but it's never really bothered me. Unless i'm raiding hardcore and don't want it to be choppy for the sake of 24 other people, stuff like that doesn't annoy me.
I'm more of a console gamer, I just like to relax sometimes in WoW for a change. So lowered graphics don't bother me, as well as "subpar" framerates. Halo Reach sometimes even dips below 25 fps on some maps:( In the end it comes down to gameplay for me, as it should for most gamers, that's why I never got the PC crowds obsession with everything ultra AAx20 120fps, just enjoy the game;)

(Btw Reach can be aggravating cuz it also was a bad game compared to the other Halo games, I have high hopes for Halo 4 though:)

Gameplay is, of course, the most important thing. But having the game run at a silky-smooth framerate with superior image quality makes a huge difference to my enjoyment of a game. I sold my consoles when I built a PC last year after realizing I can run any game at 1920×1080 with high levels of AA & AF, at a locked 60fps, compared to console games running at 1280×720 or less, with limited AA, often no AF, and at a stuttery 30fps or less.

For example, here's Skyrim at 1080p on Ultra, compared to 720p with Medium settings.

It's exactly the same game, but I enjoy it a lot more on PC.

And keep in mind that the game is locked to 60fps on my PC with essentially no load times (<1s off an SSD) compared to a stuttering 30fps on console.

I can agree higher definition adds alot to games. Halo 2 vista looks amazing in 1080p, really adds alot to the game despite the older graphics. Honestly i'll take higher definitions over all the other stuff any day. I'd rather play Halo 2 at 1080p or higher than Halo Reach, CoD, GoW (whatever else) at any definition with their newer graphic engines...although that also involves art style which is another story.

Story > gameplay > art style > graphics is prolly my order of importance. Skyrim for example feels like it has way too much tacked on stuff in the story just for more things to fill the players time needlessly, and the gameplay looks rather dull imo. I do love the art style though which is why I still borrow it from a friends house here and there.

Oh music, totally forgot bout music...uber important for me. (yet another reason I play Skyrim, i find myself playing the ost alot off youtube while im doin things around the house/work/etc)
