HD5870 ROM

Hi guys, wonder if anyone can help me with a .rom for an HD5870 I've tried to register at Netkas a couple of times but no activation Email received. I'm after Florians 5870mod2efi.rom

Is it just for bootscreen?

Otherwise there is really no reason to flash the ROM on a Radeon HD 5870.

Yes just for the bootscreen, I'm fairly new to Mac's and want to dual boot using bootcamp and windows 8.1 and I assume by using a PC based card that there woud be no access to the boot manager?...

For your info, use Bootchamp, or select the start up disk in system preference can make you easily switch between OSX and Windows. The boot screen is not necessary for this purpose.

@ Fl0r!an sorry to ask a dumb question , but the original rom size is 128kb does your modified rom replace some of the code within the original rom?..

A big part of those 128kb should be empty (0xFF). Just merge the EFI into the ROM as described at netkas.

hey Florian will your efi file work on Saphire 5870 vapour x. Would love to flash mine with boot screen for macpro 2,1. Netkas forum registration is VERY frustrating and I can't receive the reg email either???? The port mapping article is very promising.

Yes, this ROM should work on a Sapphire 5870.

Thanks Florian, is this rom complete and ready to flash or do I add efi to it? Sorry for the newbie question.

It's a modified EFI file without the legacy vBIOS part. You'll have to attach it to your own ROM, tutorials are here & at netkas.org
