Hello people,

I was just wondering: do you think it's normal that it takes an Adobe CS 3.dmg (2.6GB) more than 45 mins to install over firewire from my old PB G4? Looks like I have problems with the 160GB Fujitsu drive... Everytime I install things the write speeds are at a 8 MB/sec max (4 MB/s average), whether from CD, DVD, or exernal HDD.

I have a SR MBP 2.4 15" standard configuration. I already sent a first one back due to yellowish-display, but as far as I remember the write speeds weren't that bad.

Considering to send it back to Shanghai... And by the way I'm a tiny bit pissed...

FW 400 = 400 / 8 = 50 MBps
FW 800 = 800 / 8 = 100 MBps

So assuming you're running over FW400, then I would believe that's a decent speed.
