Hello forum,

I am still learning Mac OS (converted from windows). The question I have is: I have an external HD that I am using for my music file storage. I have successfully configured music(iTunes) to go to that drive for content. I have named it "Music". Now I have a different drive I would like to use instead of the current drive, if I un-mount the current "Music" and name the new drive "Music" will music (iTunes) see the new drive as the old one? (In windows each drive is labeled with a letter, I am unsure how that equates to Mac OS).
Thank you in advance,

sometimes "seagate" or WD will be th name
never D,E,G etc

Maybe. I would double check. Go into Preferences... -> Files -> Change... to change the Music Media folder location. This is where songs are stored.

The Media folder location is maybe not the same as the location of the Music library folder (the folder that contains the "Music Library.musiclibrary" file for Music.app or "iTunes Library.itl" for iTunes.app or "iTunes Library" for older versions of iTunes.app (Mac OS X 10.5)). To change the Music library folder, start Music.app (or iTunes.app for older macOS versions) with the Option key held down, then select the new Music library folder.

Probably not a good idea to keep the older drive named “Music” named that if using a newer drive named “Music”. I would suggest renaming the older drive to something else just in case you ever want to plug it into the Mac at the same time the new drive named “Music” is also plugged in.
