hey all
i just have a quick question.... most of my movies are stored on an external hard drive so i was wondering if i connected that hdd to an new airport extreme would i be able to access them via itunes for them to play on an :apple: TV?

thanks!

I think they'll need to be stored in an iTunes library to get to the appleTV. you can add them (without copying them locally) from the network share to a computer that streams to the appleTV, but there may be some lag. can't say for sure though.

Yep

As long as your iTunes library on your computer is mapped to the external HD connected to the Airport Extreme (meaning you can see and play the files in iTunes), it should work just fine.

Remember, the ?TV SYNCS content, so as long as it's on the network and properly accessible through iTunes, I don't see why this would be an issue. Sure, it might take a bit longer to sync, but in actual use the difference shouldn't matter.
