I have swapped disks multiple times over the past 14 years and now for the first time I have run into trouble. I have bought a Toshiba MG09 (MG09ACA18TE) 18TB HDD. First problem was, the mount screwholes don't fit the sled. The two close to the connector are fine, but the rear two are ca. 2cm off. I solved this with silicon glue. The second problem was that the HDD emits a low-volume but high-pitched noise, which I found so annoying that I have taken it out again. I will use the HDD for backups in a USB enclosure now.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a large (10TB+) HDD, one that is currently available?

This is the reference thread for high capacity HDD upgrades, you should find all the pertinent info there.
