So I just got a new Mac Mini. I tried using an HDMI cable to connect it straight to my monitor, but the quality just looks horrible. So I have a DVI Switcher box connected to a Windows PC and I just connected it to my Mac Mini with the HDMI to DVI cable. For some reason it doesn't work, and it doesn't show up on my monitor...BUT when I have the Windows computer turned on, I can switch to the Mac and Windows seamlessly, but as soon as the Windows PC is turned off the Mac screen disappears and doesn't work unless I have the other computer on.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or can lead me in the right direction. Thank you!! :)

*The monitor by the way is a Samsung 2280HD, not sure if that has anything to do with it

HDMI is a digital signal, it shouldn't look terrible unless you have a faulty cable. Are you displaying at your monitor's native resolution?
