I know that there's already at least two threads on this, but one seems to be geared towards just one specific converter, and the other is almost 1000 posts long, so what I wanted to do here is to make a thread which is a comprehensive comparison between the available adapters.

I currently know of five:

Atlona: two available, one which upscales to 1440p but is more expensive.

Belkin: converts any resolution to 720p, but this means that if Apple decide to update the software on imac so that it can accept 1080p, this adapter would not be able to take advantage of that. (also, not exactly sure on this but if a game's native resolution is 720p, meaning that the xbox/ps3 simply upscales it to output 1080p, then the downscaling back to 720p by the converter could possibly look poorer than just sticking to 720p in the first place?)

Dr. Bott: not USB powered.

Kanex XD: according to an amazon.co.uk review, has a rather irritating setup process involving connecting all the cables in a specific order, which must be followed each time it is used.

These are all the converters and issues that I am aware of. Please add any more useful information that I've missed out.
