i recently bought myself a 2011 base model Mac Mini that i've got connected to my sony HDTV through HDMI at 1080p. ever since it's been connected the screen goes black for maybe a second then comes back on, sometimes it will do this a couple of times and be fine then other times it will be just the once. as far as i can tell it doesn't seem to be happening after a set amount of time.

so far i've made sure i have all available updates installed, including the thunderbolt update on the off chance that solved the problem. i've tried it with 2 different HDMI leads, one new cable and one that i've used with my xbox 360 for the past year or 2. i've tried it in each of the HDMI ports i have on the tv and that doesn't seem to have helped either.

tonight i upgraded the RAM from the standard 2GB to 8GB and also changed the refresh rate to PAL (i'm in the UK and as far as i understand most of our stuff is PAL) and i'm still having this problem. i'm fairly certain it's a problem with the Mac Mini's hardware or software as i've used my '08 iMac through HDMI and had no issues and also my xbox which plays perfectly fine. does anyone have any ideas on how i could fix this as i'm out of ideas short of returning the mac mini which i don't want to do as i love it!
