Does the TV have DVI? If so, use that. However, be careful to make sure you get the right connectors. There are several variants of DVI connectors (DVI-A, DVI-D, DVI-I, and more).
If it has VGA (aka PC Input), then you could use that.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with going from VGA -> Component only because of the hassles and time involve in getting it to work. You might be better off using a media extender that has component outputs. The aTV would work, but you may not be able to play all of your files. There are other, Windows based devices that could work, as well. Popcorn Hour is one that I keep hearing about.
