Do the powermac g5s have a headphone jack and a mic jack adjacent to each other? Do they even have mic jacks at all? I'm planning to buy one, but I also want to use my sennheiser pc160sk headphones. Please help, thanks!

More like one is above the other, but yes, there are analog input and output jacks on the PowerMacs.

That's true. If you want to use the mic for pro recording, you can get a pre-amp (a good, cheap one is the M-Audio Audio Buddy which is about $80) or if you just want a simple mic for audio chat, etc. you can get a USB line-in (a good one is the Griffin iMic, which you can get for about $40).

Dependent on the model you can also use them with TOSlink, optical in and out.
And really, those stupid headset mics will work. I use those as communication links between our talent and those running the boards (if they need somebody running a board). As far as preamps go, there is a wide spectrum of quality and purposes. You can find a preamp/processors for cheep on eBay. Pawn shops are also good places to look. If you have local music stores ask for "B-stock". Usually these fall into one of four categories. DOM (Date Of Manufacture) is really old, or floor modes (you get little or no warranty), or equipment with cosmetic flaws, and lastly returned items.
My AKGs and my Sennheiser monitor headsets have done well. While expensive, they have survived dozens of different people using them a day, 8-12 hours a day for 5 years. While the model you plan to use is different than what I have in the studio I direct, I thought I would relay that they seem to be well built.

Simply put, my sennheiser is a gaming headset, though I'm not using it purely for gaming. I just want to find an affordable way of keeping this headset when I get my mac because they're just awesome. I got these for about $68 CDN from a sale and I don't want to pay for an accessory that's more expensive than the headphones themselves.
I've taken a look at the iMics and the reviews weren't very favourable. I've also googled TOSlink but I'm not sure how it works. Thanks for all the suggestions.
