Hi

So, I plugged in a 3.5mm jack plug into my iPhone 3G to test an audio system, and on removing it, the end broke off, and is now stuck in the iPhone headphone socket. I'm talking just the tip here, the piece at the end before the first contact.

I'm not really sure what to do. I guess, I need to find some long, narrow tweezers, and hope I can pry it out. Is this something that Apple would be able to help me with? Or do I have a semi-bricked iPhone now, since I'm unable to make or receive any calls with it?

Any help?

Take it to a genius. If you try to dig it out yourself you are likely to cause more problems.

A genius is probably your best bet!

P.S.: What in the World were you doing with the pin..... it's supposed to be 3.5mm of metal!

I'd talk to Apple about this, don't fuss about yourself. If you get an ******* at the Genius Bar, then I would see about action against the company who's product you had plugged in the iPhone.

To be honest, it was a piece of cable that has probably been used and abused by lecturers over its lifetime. Of course, I wasn't expecting it to just break, or I wouldn't have been stupid enough to put it in my two-week old iPhone.

Hey ho, I'll see if I can get a genius appointment and try to get it sorted on my lunchbreak tomorrow. Until then, thank god I still have my first gen iPhone to use as a backup!
