I have a 30GB Video from 2005 that works great, but the headphone jack is messed up. If you plug the headphone in all the way, only the right speaker plays and if you plug it in just half way both play, but it's really just the right speaker in both ears.

Can I just open my iPod and fix it by cleaning it out or should I just pay the 50 odd bucks to repair it? Will Apple repair it?

Not sure about the repair, just wondering if you have tried other headphones?

I had worn out headphones that had similar issues.

They shot a quick burst of air from a can of compressed air into my iPhone's headphone jack when it started acting up. Fixed the problem instantly.
