headphone output not working on imac

i got the new imac 24 in....had it for awhile and the speakers worked perfectly but suddenly stopped working when i installed vmware fusion...i thought it was just my speakers so i plugged in my headphones and still dont work but when nothing is plugged in the built-in speakers work...is there something im missing or a set up i should do when i installed the vmware...help pleaseee

Check the volume. It probably was muted when the VM took control of it. Make sure the volume settings are up in the VM as well as the mac.
