Headphone Question

Just bought a new iPad Pro 10.5 inch and should have it today, but UPS can't do its job. Anyway one thing that I am curious about is using two seats of headphones on it. Do you think the headphone splitter will work with the USB-C headphone dongle? Or can two sets of airpods be paired with it?

Any options? My wife and I like to watch movies together on trips, and trying to figure out the best solution.
 
You can’t have multiple Bluetooth output at the same time. A wired solution is more realistic.
