I am looking for a headset recomendation for an iMac (24" circa 2007) for use with BF2142 and CoD. Should it be USB or are the plugs OK (does it matter?).
Thanks

If for voice chat, I use a playstation 2 logitech headset mic setup.

I bought this on clearance at Walmart and is the best headset I've ever used. One headphone, mic, usb adapter and it's easily recognized in windows and os x as a sound source and mic source. So basically I have my voice chat audio route to the headset and game sound go to my regular speakers, and mic goes to the headset.

works great.

I have a Plantronics gaming headphone and mic set that I've used on my PC for close to a year. It came with a USB adapter as well as the standard two jacks - one for headphone stereo sound and one for Mic in.

I was surprised when I first tried it on my new iMac 20". The Mic didn't work. As you probably know by now, the input on the iMac is Line In and has no power..

I was thinking I'd have to get a different Mic or some kind of pre-amp and was searching around here. Then it dawned on me: I could use the USB adapter for the Mic. Seems fine.

I still prefer the standard audio output sound quality vs. the sound quality of the USB adapter - at least on the PC. The PC sound card had richer sound than that provided by the USB adapter. I'm going to assume it would be the same on the Mac.

What games have you tried it with? I borrowed one from a coworker and Preferences recognized it right away. But I could not seem to get BF2142 to react to it.

Have the other folks tried theirs with BF2142? What about COD4?

Thanks
