As much as I like Mac and Apple. Been an iPhone user for years this update particularly with regard to screen size is unacceptable.

Apple use to be about form following function and melding that into an edgy minimalist cool design. Having tried the S3 I'd say the 4.8 inch screen is barely adequate for reasonably enjoyable web browsing.

This long iphone at 4" is something of a joke and really doesn't provide any size benefits over the previous gen iPhone.

Apple sold us on the utility of the smart phone and now they seem to be resting on their laurels and their brand and the legions of Apple fans that will drink whatever cool aid they serve up.

I'm a big Apple fan but utility first. The the larger S3 provides a much better UI for accessing the web, emails etc. And other than talk that's the raison d'etre for a smart phone

I second that , why don't they take notes from Samsung ? do they not care about what people want, the customer is always right, and I hope that they feel it stocks wise

I'm over looking at Arstechnica live blog and I wasn't disappointed by the resulting disappointment after seeing the press conference taking place. Good bye Apple but it seems that you're more concerned about the photo taking game playing mouth breathers than improving the bread and butter basics of a smart phone - to provide a tonne of space to play videos/audio, a web browser that embraces more open standards and an effort to actually provide a meaningful size battery so that battery life actually increases rather than stay static or go backwards.

Oh well, I'm off to my carrier of choice in around 6-7 hours to purchase my new phone - I've already moved away from the iCloud in favour of Office 365 and now this is the second phase of moving away from Apple. If Apple thinks that Samsung is successful because they ripped off Apple then it is clear that they've got no idea what is actually motivating the purchases which is clearly demonstrated by the half assed update shown in the presentation today.
